Comegys, Germar, Forcht continue winning ways at CCS

The chase for the championship continued Saturday with the American State Bank night at the races. A packed grandstand and a field of 72 cars were ready for action and a great night of racing.
Saturdays A-Main events started with the Jr. FWD division with Kaylie Camden and Alan Delker on the front row. Delker took the lead at the drop of the green and never looked back as he took home his first win of the season and became the fourth new driver to win in the division out of the four races. Niki Sparks finished second, third was Katelyn Byrd, fourth went to T.J Woods and fifth was Kaylie Camden.
The Pro 4 Trucks were up next as nine trucks started the main event. Kristin Clark and John Bakely led the field to the green flag. Garrett Nelson and Kyle Byrd took over the first two spots and battled for the lead. Lap traffic came into play and Nelson was able to get through the traffic quicker and held the to lead it to the end for his first win of the year. Byrd finished second after he saved himself from nearly rolling over in turn 4 after making contact with a lapped truck. Garrit McKee followed in third and Cody Mundy fourth. Andy Forcht rounded out the top 5.
Next on the card was the Iowa Micro Sprints as 21 cars started the feature. Bruce Drottz held the lead for the first two laps. On lap three Brad Comegys took over the top spot and led the way to the checkers for his third straight win at CCS. Bruce Drottz finished second. Third went to Eric Bridger followed by Cory Forsyth from Knoxville and Tyler Nelson out of Olathe, Kansas.
A few sprinkles welcomed to CCS B-Mod field of drivers for their A-Main. Rick Germar wasted no time to get to the lead as Colton Nelson and Hobby Stock legend Bill Bonnett followed. Bonnett passed Nelson half way in the feature as James Reichart, Joe Graves and Jason Mason each battled for fourth. In the end it was Germar to cross under the checkers first to claim his second win in a row. Bonnett finished second in his first visit to the speedway and first night out in a B-Mod. Colton Nelson settled for third. James Reichart won the battle and finished in the fourth position with Jason Mason in fifth.
An action packed Outlaw Hobby Stock feature followed the B-Mods as the field of sixteen cars was set after qualifying from the heats and b-main. Osceola’s Chris Mitchell led the first few laps until Tyler Clark found himself in the fence with no where to go, after an altercation with another car to bring out the red flag. Clark walked away after a hard hit with the wall. At the restart, B.J George gained the lead as Mitchell had to visit the work area due to a flat tire. A few laps later Clayton Starckovich took over the lead for a lap and then Darin Dezwarte made the pass to lead until lap 11. Chariton’s Trent Jeanes passed Dezwarte for the top spot a lap later. The red flag was waved for the second time as Dezwarte and Scott Bear from Russell got together going into turn three and Bear caught the infield tire and rolled over. Both drivers were ok after the incident. The race was called after the red due to time with Trent Jeanes the winner, followed by Trevor Tanner in second, third Starckovich, fourth was August Bach in Jim Alexander’s car, and fifth Brodie Buckingham from Osceola.
Indianola’s Steven Fenton led the field of FWD Street Stocks to the green flag. Fenton led the first lap as Andy Forcht snatched the lead on the following lap and held on for his second win in a row. Fenton finished in second. Third was Joshua Camden, fourth went to Justin McKinney from Creston and Jacob Camden from Gravity finished in fifth.
